Our journey from humble beginnings to becoming a bridge for farmers
Taungthutada, TTTD - Farmers' Bridge (တောင်သူ့တံတား) was started in September 2019 with the primary aim of improving farmers' access to information throughout Southern Shan State. As co-founding members primarily hail from farming communities, they aspired to the belief that 'Those who feed us, need us.'
They utilized their knowledge gained from school and their professionals to kick-start a Facebook page that directly engaged farmers, conducted research, and created agricultural content in a language easily understood by the farming community in Shan State.
Supported by the collaborative efforts of farmers, women, youth, and various organizations, TTTD developed and evolved as a functional operational team, supporting and implementing project initiatives towards the sustainable development of organizations since early 2021.
In early 2024, the team's resilience was tested by the impacts of the armed conflict in Hsihseng. Despite this, we didn't stop. We looked to each other, reaffirming, 'We have always tried to be resilient and sustainable. Let's get through this challenging time once again,' as we moved from Hsihseng to Hopong, then on to Taunggyi and finally Aungban.

This fund is called "Growth Fund for TTTD Employee Development and Farmers' Future Generations" and with initiation of HKD$ 10,000, which is HKD 30,000 awarded from Social Innovation Kick-start fund from CISL TriAngle. (Read more in this report)
In order to further increase the fund size, we will partner with Hong Kong-based charities, LxM to manage the fund and directly donate to TTTD former and existing employees, including from farmers families as they propose their growth and education plans. The support will be provided in the form of grants or loans as deemed appropriate.
Leveraging lessons from two investments and early pilot programs such as basic sales agent training, WSR, agricultural consulting, and SME distribution partnerships, we now design educational programs and social impact capital catalysts to amplify future investments and community support.
The TTTD team gained early expertise and experience in investment support and training through the project 'Fostering Food Security and Resilience Through Innovative Agricultural Services and Market Linkages in Southern Shan State,' implemented by HEKS/EPER Myanmar and co-funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
